About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop industry, product, and roadmap understanding to shape team strategy and organizational direction
Lead end-to-end technical execution of complex features and systems from ideation and architecture through deployment and refinement
Define and enforce engineering principles, guidelines, and best practices
Drive Android platform decisions and serve the Android and mobile ecosystem for Fanatics apps through Kotlin Multiplatform
Partner with product, design, and stakeholders on high-impact technical decisions aligned with business goals and scalability
Share best practices, code, and entire features across multiple apps with iOS and Android leaders
Lead incident resolution through the on-call rotation
Identify and remove roadblocks across teams
Conduct and elevate code reviews
Steer team planning and design discussions and optimize design patterns
Improve software quality, testability, operational metrics, and documentation
Mentor and coach engineers at all levels
Attend occasional travel to Fanatics offices and other locations for conferences, events, meetings, and team-building activities

Requirements

What you’ll need

10+ years of experience building highly scalable, performant Android apps
Excellence in Kotlin Multiplatform, Compose Multiplatform, and other Android technologies
Demonstrated ability to drive consensus and mentor others in coding and architectural strategies
Systems-level functional knowledge or experience with Backend Client API, Platform Engineering, and client-supporting systems in Marketing and Analytics
Knowledge of observability practices, including logging, monitoring, and tracing in native apps
Excellent communication skills for conveying complex technical concepts to engineers, executives, and non-technical stakeholders
Team-first mentality and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done
Ability to thrive in a high-growth environment with evolving priorities
Preferred: experience sharing code across native and cross-platform apps
Preferred: experience with webviews and stitching coherent app experiences across technologies
Preferred: experience in sports, e-commerce, or gaming
Preferred: ability to work in diverse legacy and greenfield codebases, languages, and environments
