About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct virtual and on-site investigations at policyholders’ residences
  • Assess property damage, determine liability, evaluate the extent of loss, and negotiate fair settlements
  • Use claims handling software, a company car, and a laptop to determine claims-related damage and write estimates in a paperless environment
  • Evaluate and report potential subrogation opportunities
  • Report theft, fraud, or arson incidents to appropriate state and industry agencies
  • Perform duties independently with work directly impacting management outcomes
  • Represent the company in public interactions while maintaining professional standards
  • Engage with policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, contractors, law enforcement, fraud and arson investigators, attorneys, medical professionals, and other relevant parties
  • Negotiate with policyholders to settle claims
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  • Promote safety and comply with company safety and ergonomic standards
  • Travel away from residence for catastrophe deployments, usually 23 days
  • Commit to 1–3 catastrophe deployments per year
  • Cover property damage claims across central Louisiana

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Excellent customer service experience, preferably in a retail environment
  • Construction or Insurance experience is highly desirable and preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Computer literate: MS Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Proficiency with smartphones and applications
  • Eagerness to learn about insurance policies and property damage
  • Outgoing personality and willingness to interact with policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, and fraud investigators
  • Valid driver's license
  • Bondable
  • Final candidates subject to a Motor Vehicle Record background check
  • Previous property damage claims experience preferred; willing to train the right candidate
  • Willing and able to climb ladders and work on rooftops multiple times per day
  • Willing and able to work in small, confined damaged spaces such as attics and crawlspaces
  • Achieve a minimum passing score on all claims training exams
  • Ability to carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English
  • Ability to perform bending, kneeling, pulling, pushing, sorting, climbing, reaching, standing, walking, seeing, and key entering
