About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct virtual and on-site investigations at policyholders’ residences
- Assess property damage, determine liability, evaluate losses, and negotiate fair settlements
- Use claims handling software, a company car, and a laptop to determine damage and write paperless estimates
- Evaluate and report potential subrogation opportunities
- Report incidents involving theft, fraud, or arson to appropriate state and industry agencies
- Work independently with duties directly impacting management outcomes
- Represent the company professionally in public interactions
- Engage with policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, contractors, law enforcement, fraud and arson investigators, attorneys, and medical professionals
- Negotiate with policyholders to settle claims
- Promote safety and comply with safety and ergonomic standards
- Travel away from residence for catastrophe assignments, usually for 23 days
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Excellent customer service experience, preferably in a retail environment
- Construction or insurance experience highly desirable and preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Computer literate: MS Word, Excel, Outlook
- Proficiency with smartphones and applications
- Eagerness to learn about insurance policies and property damage
- Valid driver's license and bondable
- Final candidates subject to a Motor Vehicle Record background check
- Must be willing and able to climb ladders and work on rooftops multiple times per day
- Must be willing and able to work in small, confined spaces such as attics and crawlspaces
- Achieve a minimum passing score on all claims training exams
- English speaking, reading, and writing required
- Ability to carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must commit to 1–3 catastrophe deployments per year
- Candidates must currently live within the Dallas, Grand Prairie, or Mesquite, Texas area
