About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Represent clients in all areas of insurance defense practice
- Handle cases primarily low in complexity and exposure
- Manage all phases of cases from intake to resolution
- Litigate cases from intake through trial and/or settlement
- Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs
- Attend hearings, conferences, interviews, mediations, arbitrations, and trials
- Inform leadership of case-handling opportunities and challenges
- Consult with the Claims Department on legal aspects of files
- Perform tasks to ensure efficient case management
- Handle second-chair trials and trials involving minimally complex cases
- Support senior attorneys on matters of greater complexity or exposure
- Receive developmental assignments involving moderately complex matters
Requirements
What you’ll need- Licensed to practice Law in applicable states required upon hire
- Civil litigation and/or personal/bodily injury experience preferred
- Public speaking
- Ability to function in adversarial or confrontational situations
- Driving
- Strong verbal communication and listening skills
- Excellent written communication skills
- Effective negotiation skills
- Ability to represent the company with external constituents
- Excellent judgment and decision-making skills
- Time management and priority-setting skills
- Strong technical aptitude
