About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Adjust major and complex losses, as well as standard losses
  • Train claims employees and participate in claims training programs and agent's career schools
  • Assist with reinspections, field-rides, file reviews, authority requests, and technical support
  • Work closely with District Managers, agency personnel, Team Leaders, Supervisors, and Management
  • Complete procedural requirements and investigations for complex losses
  • Assist with catastrophe claims throughout the operating territory
  • Manage litigated specialty files and control legal expenses
  • Attend litigation conferences, arbitration hearings, and trials as necessary
  • Review Claims Office operations for compliance and quality assurance
  • Report adverse trends and procedural deviations with recommendations
  • Recommend claims monetary authority limits for supervisory and field personnel
  • Evaluate technical abilities of Claims Representatives and Claims Associates
  • Advise claims offices on vendor relations and repair program administration
  • Investigate claims, confirm coverage, determine liability, establish damages, report status, and negotiate settlements
  • Inspect damaged property and vehicles and estimate repair or replacement costs
  • Determine subrogation potential and initiate salvage sales
  • Report theft, fraud, and arson losses to state and industry agencies
  • Represent the Company from a public relations standpoint and maintain professional contacts with policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, repair facilities, contractors, police and fire departments, investigators, attorneys, experts, and medical professionals
  • Promote safety and comply with company safety and ergonomic standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Completion of, or actively pursuing a major insurance designation, or actively pursuing insurance related courses
  • External candidates should have a minimum of four years of prior claims experience
  • Successful demonstration/completion of the Claims Sr General Adjuster prerequisites, proficiencies, and exams, as required based on unit of assignment
  • Valid driver's license
  • Bondable
  • Speaking, Reading & Writing (English)
  • Ability to live within the selected territory and travel regularly throughout the assigned coverage area
  • Ability to travel for catastrophe response assignments
  • Ability to perform required physical actions, including bending, pulling, sorting, pushing, climbing, reaching, standing, key entering, walking, kneeling, and seeing
  • Ability to carry up to 20 lbs.
