About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Acts as primary client contact on a portfolio of applications and funding agreements through the project cycle
- Manages internal and external communications, document review, accurate records, and timely processing
- Reviews applications for plans, studies, pilot projects, and capital projects for eligibility and mandatory requirements
- Guides applicants to improve the technical, economic, and social viability of proposals
- Shares relevant knowledge products and capacity-building resources
- Facilitates and supports the Peer Review process, including reviewing scores and comments and conducting additional research
- Writes and reviews application summaries and prepares funding recommendations
- Reviews translated presentation documents as required
- Administers funding agreements and contracts, including consulting on terms, negotiating, reviewing, finalizing agreements, and obtaining signatures
- Reviews contracts for mandatory requirements and applicable provincial legislation
- Reviews and recommends disbursement requests and progress and final reports
- Prepares and defends post-approval recommendations, including contract amendments, scope changes, and closure memos
- Reviews project results and triple bottom line reports to identify significant results and lessons learned
- Shares relevant information with Communications and Marketing, Capacity and Sector Development, Impact Research and Performance teams
- Participates in cross-functional GMF, FCM Programs department, and FCM-wide initiatives
- Contributes to application and contracting process improvements, including developing and updating applicant tools and templates
Requirements
What you’ll need- University degree in an environmental science, engineering, planning, finance or related discipline
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years of professional experience in project management/evaluation, ideally related to one or more technical sustainable community development area, and in a client focused role
- Strong knowledge and experience in one or more technical areas of sustainable community development (energy, water, municipal solid waste, transportation, land use, and planning) is ideal
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent client service skills
- Strong organizational skills, priority management skills, and ability to manage multiple files
- Detail oriented and strong analytical skills
- Sound judgment
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- The ability to work in both official languages is essential
- Successful candidate is required to live within 80kms of downtown Ottawa, unless otherwise specified
- Must be authorized to work in Canada
