Key responsibilities & impact

Stabilise monthly payroll operations by identifying risks, strengthening controls, improving validations, and ensuring payroll accuracy and compliance
Manage end-to-end payroll activities with HR, Finance, managers, and outsourced payroll vendors
Perform payroll processing, reconciliations, statutory compliance, and employee query resolution
Drive implementation of approved Wage Code and payroll-related regulatory changes
Coordinate requirements, testing, validation, stakeholder engagement, and vendor readiness
Review and redesign payroll processes, controls, governance frameworks, and payroll calendars
Identify opportunities for automation, reporting enhancements, and process optimisation
Create payroll documentation, SOPs, control frameworks, and knowledge transfer plans

Requirements

What you’ll need

7–10 years of experience managing end-to-end India payroll operations, statutory compliance, and payroll governance within a corporate environment
Strong expertise in payroll taxation, PF, ESI, TDS, gratuity, payroll accounting, and statutory compliance requirements
Proven experience leading payroll transformation, implementation, or change programmes, including testing, reconciliation, compliance assessments, and process improvements
Hands-on experience with outsourced payroll vendors and payroll systems such as ADP, SAP, Workday, Oracle, Allsec/Alldigi, or similar platforms
Strong Excel, analytical, stakeholder management, documentation, and problem-solving skills
Ability to balance operational delivery and strategic projects
