About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Understand product vision, goals, and roadmap
  • Translate business wants and needs into prioritized requirements through business process analysis, needs assessments, and preliminary cost/benefit analyses
  • Manage and prioritize the Agile team backlog
  • Lead the Agile team in delivering customer and stakeholder outcomes
  • Prepare functional, system, and program specifications
  • Assist in implementation of systems and participate in system initiatives and workgroups
  • Learn continuously about customers, business needs, and product outcomes
  • Communicate product vision, goals, roadmap, features, and stories to the Agile team
  • Collaborate with architecture, engineering, and quality assurance
  • Gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications when necessary
  • Decompose and prioritize epics and features into user stories with detailed test acceptance criteria
  • Prioritize technology-driven and risk-remediation requirements
  • Serve as business subject matter expert and clarify questions for the Agile team
  • Support application development with enabler stories
  • Evaluate completed stories against success criteria and accept completed work
  • Analyze defects and enhancements for severity, priority, and validity
  • Contribute to discussions on risks, dependencies, issues, and schedule updates
  • Coordinate actions addressing dependencies between FRFS teams
  • Present working software in team and system demos
  • Prepare and present product proposals and messaging to product and governance forums
  • Use data and feedback to improve the product
  • Monitor product-specific OKRs and manage toward targets with stakeholders
  • Advance the role’s processes and responsibilities and share improvements with peers
  • Promote Agile behaviors across business, technology, and FRFS

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or any technical related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Typically requires a minimum of 7-10 years of related experience
  • Ability to bridge the business/IT divide and establish rapport
  • Strong understanding of business requirement development and analysis, including use cases, functional specifications, and user interface specifications
  • Ability to identify challenges, brainstorm ideas, and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and manage multiple deliverables simultaneously
  • Strong teamwork, leadership, critical thinking, multitasking, and time management skills in a highly matrixed organization
  • Ability to develop deep subject matter expertise for specific products and their broader ecosystem
  • Ability to understand and resolve blockers and delivery risk quickly
  • Ability to understand competing priorities across technology and business areas and define resolutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Certified Product Owner in Scrum or SAFe, preferably Advanced level, and recent JIRA experience are highly desirable
  • Background in the financial services industry with web applications in a cloud environment
