About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Direct all aspects of Human Resources Operations, including benefits, HRIS and payroll, policy administration, employee engagement, employee relations, recruiting, onboarding/offboarding, office management, and safety/compliance
  • Serve as the on-the-ground HR team lead and operationalize the full HR lifecycle
  • Lead HR risk mitigation and regulatory/legal compliance
  • Oversee benefits development, administration, open enrollment, employee communications, and broker/carrier relationships
  • Manage employee-relations escalations, investigations, documentation standards, and risk mitigation
  • Advise assigned departments across the full spectrum of HR processes, programs, and issues
  • Design, update, and communicate HR policies and standard operating procedures
  • Direct full-cycle talent acquisition, workforce planning, recruiting operations, vendor/agency management, selection processes, and onboarding
  • Oversee multi-state payroll operations, payroll tax filings, audits, vendor relationships, and payroll-system integrations
  • Lead the HRIS roadmap, configuration, integrations, data governance, reporting, and user training
  • Lead safety and compliance programs, including incident reporting, workers’ compensation, training, audits, and corrective actions
  • Manage safety and office protocols for the Washington, DC and Chicago offices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8-10 years of progressive human resources leadership experience
  • Experience balancing HR specialization and HR generalist work
  • Experience designing and administering benefit systems, including RFPs, vendor management, benchmarking, and employee communication
  • Deep experience in employee relations, including leadership coaching, team effectiveness, issue resolution, problem solving, risk mitigation, and legal compliance
  • Experience implementing HRIS/payroll systems meeting regulatory standards and risk-management best practices
  • Experience developing and implementing talent acquisition and employee engagement strategies
  • Experience providing direct HR support to senior leaders
  • Knowledge of benefits and leave regulations, including ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, FMLA, and state leave programs
  • Knowledge of OSHA, incident reporting, workers’ compensation, safety training, audits, and corrective actions
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
