About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Plan and coordinate daily truckload shipments into Ferguson distribution centers efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to improve transportation processes, service levels, and overall costs.
  • Use transportation and logistics systems to tender freight to Ferguson’s carrier partners in compliance with routing guides.
  • Communicate transportation delays and service disruptions affecting distribution centers and customers.
  • Review, evaluate, and help improve transportation procedures and operational processes with management.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient execution of transportation plans.
  • Cover load planning responsibilities for both Coxsackie, NY and Front Royal, VA locations.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent transportation, logistics, route planning, or related industry experience will also be considered.
  • Previous route planning, transportation coordination, or delivery driver experience required.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across teams and with customers.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to interpret and apply processes, procedures, and operational guidelines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook; working knowledge of Word and Access preferred.
  • Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and business needs.
