Business Development Manager – Paint

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Expand Festool’s paint retail footprint across Canada and drive revenue growth
- Identify, qualify, recruit, and develop new paint dealer locations
- Develop and execute an annual Canadian paint business development plan
- Evaluate distribution gaps and prioritize opportunities based on market potential and dealer capabilities
- Build relationships with dealer owners, leadership teams, buyers, and decision makers
- Develop dealer proposals covering assortments, opening orders, merchandising, training, and launch activities
- Coordinate dealer onboarding and move locations from opening orders to sustained sell-through and repeat business
- Expand participation within existing paint retail networks
- Grow assigned paint dealers through assortment expansion, product availability, merchandising, and sales growth
- Train dealer teams to demonstrate, recommend, and sell Festool products
- Use product demonstrations, contractor engagement, and dealer events to activate locations and create demand
- Develop Canadian opportunities within centrally managed accounts and buying groups
- Coordinate with sales, marketing, training, and customer service teams
- Maintain an active CRM pipeline and track opportunities, openings, revenue potential, and next steps
- Track location productivity, reorder activity, sales growth, and pipeline conversion
- Plan national travel and customer activity around priority markets and high-value opportunities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience
- 5+ years of sales, business development, or dealer development experience preferred, ideally within paint, coatings, power tools, abrasives, or related professional trade markets
- Demonstrated success recruiting new dealers, expanding retail distribution, or increasing participation within multi-location customer networks
- Proven ability to convert prospective accounts into active, productive customers and deliver sustained revenue growth
- Strong understanding of the Canadian paint retail market; established industry relationships strongly preferred
- Experience identifying market opportunities, prioritizing prospects, and developing actionable business development plans
- Strong commercial judgement, including explaining dealer value, recommending assortments, and negotiating commitments within company guidelines
- Confidence working with dealer owners, senior decision makers, buyers, and store-level teams
- Ability to conduct hands-on product demonstrations and dealer training
- Willingness to develop strong Festool product and application knowledge
- Strong prospecting, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- Proficiency with CRM tools and sales data
- Ability to manage national responsibilities and coordinate internal resources without direct reporting authority
- Based in the Greater Toronto Area
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout Canada and periodically to the United States, including overnight travel and occasional weekend events
- Proficiency in English required; French proficiency preferred
- Valid driver’s licence and ability to transport and safely demonstrate tools and equipment
- Ability to travel overnight 50% on average
