About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Review and decision small business loan applications in a centralized environment for complex loans
  • Provide loan decisions and/or credit recommendations based on all underwriting criteria
  • Collaborate with the Sales team to develop loan structures meeting customer needs and organizational risk appetite
  • Assist and mentor teammates through the loan decision process
  • Spread financial statements based on information provided in the loan package
  • Analyze global cash flow and balance sheets for SBA loans of up to $5 million
  • Prepare written evaluations of customers’ financial conditions and future outlooks, identifying risks and mitigation
  • Assist and mentor fellow team members in Credit and Portfolio Monitoring
  • Identify opportunities and recommend solutions for process improvements and software development
  • Identify and review all necessary due diligence items
  • Negotiate loan terms and conditions with loan originators and communicate loan decisions
  • Identify, assess, manage, monitor, and report risks while operating within Provide and Fifth Third Bank risk appetites

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • At least two (2) years of experience in underwriting, portfolio monitoring, or similar business loan analysis
  • Basic knowledge of commercial lending and credit standards, policies, procedures, and products
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate concepts verbally and in writing
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications
  • Degree in accounting, finance or economics is a bonus
