About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop profitable new "lead left" client relationships through centers of influence, existing clients, and referral sources
- Develop and implement business plans to achieve financial and qualitative goals
- Collaborate with internal Fifth Third partners to deepen existing relationships and acquire prospective relationships
- Attend community and industry forums, conferences, and meetings to expand networks and referral sources
- Analyze, evaluate, and develop tailored relationship strategies with Treasury Management, Capital Markets, and Wealth Management partners
- Manage customer relationships to maximize bank opportunities while considering risk and customer needs
- Meet regularly with customers to strengthen trusted-advisor relationships and address business needs
- Use consultative selling skills, commercial playbook principles, and call reporting plans
- Use the Bank's CRM system for activity tracking, call reports, and pipeline management
- Analyze financial information to determine appropriate credit requests
- Monitor customer financial performance, condition, industry trends, credit exposure, and pricing
- Partner with Portfolio Managers and Credit Officers on credit requests and follow Portfolio Management guidelines
- Provide guidance to Commercial Relationship Managers I and II
- Solicit participation in public debt issuance for clients
- Participate actively in community activities
- Identify, assess, manage, monitor, and report risks in accordance with the Bank's risk appetite
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business (e.g. Business Administration, Finance, Accounting) or equivalent work experience preferred
- Minimum of 6 years Commercial Banking experience
- At least 5 years of sales experience preferred
- Formalized commercial credit training or equivalent credit experience required
- Underwriting experience preferred
- Proven track record of partnership with investment bankers to provide strategic and capital market advice
- Proven ability to build new and existing client business, increase revenue, and provide a positive client experience
- Strong business acumen, including detailed analysis, financial statement review, and understanding of accounting principles
- Thorough knowledge of Commercial, Treasury Management, and alternative lending and financing options
- Ability to assess client needs, profitability drivers, and corporate/personal life cycle to optimize financial solutions
- Ability to communicate with impact to groups and adjust communication detail for the audience
- Ability to build strong internal partnerships for holistic client business and personal financial solutions
- Proven ability to identify and understand business issues, problems, and opportunities and create relevant solutions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, especially face-to-face negotiations
- Proven ability to work in a team-based sales environment
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office software
- Familiarity with prospecting and CRM sales tools preferred
- Regional/local travel availability
- Frequent travel may be required depending on assignment
