About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Identify and define fraud operations and systems needs and requirements
  • Serve as primary liaison between vendors, lines of business, operational support, and Information Technology
  • Develop knowledge of business lines, products, processes, and fraud-risk management
  • Support projects and programs using thought leadership and change-management concepts
  • Develop, strengthen, and implement business-unit policies, procedures, and processes
  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, governance, policies, monitoring, reporting, communications, and education requirements
  • Identify opportunities, establish action plans, and drive solutions to improve fraud policies, procedures, and tools
  • Monitor fraud-related regulatory and industry developments and advise teams on emerging issues and regulations
  • Research fraud-risk issues and develop mitigation action plans
  • Prepare materials for Council, Committee, and oversight meetings
  • Develop and deliver reports to senior management
  • Assist in closing regulatory, audit, and fraud-program deficiencies
  • Assess corrective actions and support post-implementation validation
  • Participate in or lead meetings concerning current and emerging fraud risks
  • Identify and remediate fraud risk with line-of-business team members
  • Contribute updates to risk assessments
  • Facilitate, lead, or assist with training
  • Perform root-cause analysis and data analysis; document and communicate findings and solutions
  • Review new products and services for fraud risk
  • Recommend solutions based on subject-matter expertise
  • Contribute to or lead special projects
  • Build industry relationships through networking
  • May provide employee feedback, development, career-growth opportunities, talent-pool development, succession planning, and recognition

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Five + years’ fraud and/or bank operations or equivalent experience preferred
  • Strong subject matter expertise in applicable laws, regulations, and guidance
  • Advanced understanding of Fifth Third Banking products, business lines, regional structure, operations, and corporate support organization
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Sound judgment and logical and critical thought processes
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, multi-tasking, and conflict resolution skills
