About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage an ABL portfolio through management of a Portfolio Manager team
  • Manage up to 7 Portfolio Managers, each managing 13 or 14 accounts
  • Advise, review and assist Portfolio Managers in managing clients
  • Develop and execute strategies for problem clients
  • Implement measurable goals and conduct periodic performance reviews
  • Review credit write-ups, risk ratings, field exam responses and problem loan reports
  • Provide initial approval of credit requests before submission to the Head of ABL and Bank's Credit Approval Department
  • Advise on pricing strategies, covenants, waivers, amendments, forbearances and overall credit structure
  • Assist senior bank management and the Head of ABL with special requests
  • Analyze trend cards, credit write-ups and watch asset reports to identify negative trends
  • Review, approve and present watch assets to the bank's risk team
  • Develop and maintain internal relationships and serve as a senior point of contact for customer relationships
  • Offer legal strategies and understand legal ramifications of credit decisions and loan relationships
  • Manage and train Portfolio Managers, develop new talent and support ongoing employee development

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in finance, accounting or business
  • At least 20 years of experience in ABL
  • Extensive experience in liquidation, workouts, restructuring, client retention and contact
  • Strong understanding of the legal environment underpinning ABL, including contract law, the Uniform Commercial Code and federal bankruptcy laws
  • Strong financial statement analytical and accounting skills
  • Experience understanding lending against various types of collateral
  • Thorough understanding of large syndicated transactions as both an Agent and a participant
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of computer systems, including Microsoft Office suite and proprietary business-support software
  • Valid and current driver's license required for travel to meet with prospects and customers
