About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Direct Credit Risk Management responsibilities for one or more Bancorp segmented lines of business
  • Execute credit risk management strategies and policies under the Bancorp Risk Framework
  • Exercise independent judgment and provide constructive, credible challenge to credit risk recommendations
  • Approve credits and provide feedback on structuring and pricing
  • Monitor credit administration and attend Line of Business pipeline meetings
  • Participate in customer calls as needed
  • Monitor credit quality through system-generated reports
  • Provide guidance to improve strategic execution, effectiveness, efficiency, and profitability across assigned Commercial divisions
  • Address policy, underwriting, and risk appetite issues
  • Attend prospect, customer strategy, administrative loan, and portfolio review meetings
  • Approve credit requests within lending authority and recommend larger requests to higher authority
  • Review credit packages and provide feedback to ensure underwriting and risk appetite standards
  • Review credit quality reports and monitor portfolio health, including macroeconomic, industry, geographic, and other risks
  • Perform loan relationship and portfolio reviews
  • Determine reporting needs and recommend solutions to improve task and report efficiency and accuracy
  • Escalate material credit risk issues to the Credit Risk Executive
  • Provide employee feedback, development, challenging opportunities, talent planning, and recognition when supervising others
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or Accounting
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • 7–10 years of progressive commercial lending experience
  • Five years of direct experience with credit risk management
  • Three–five years of experience leading teams
  • Knowledge of the banking industry, relevant banking regulation, commercial banking, capital markets, and treasury management products and associated risks
  • Proficient in basic spreadsheet applications such as Excel and Word
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and understand various computer systems
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and follow-up skills
  • Excellent people/relationship-building skills
  • May supervise others
