About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead a team of analytics and strategy professionals focused on new account screening for new-to-bank customer originations
- Design, lead, and implement analytics, technology, and process-improvement decisions for digital account controls and other new-account channels
- Drive profitability while mitigating fraud risk
- Use descriptive and predictive approaches to mitigate fraud trends
- Produce reporting, develop fraud rules, leverage technology, and apply quantitative approaches
- Independently manage reporting, strategy, and analytics functions
- Lead and mentor junior analytics professionals
- Collaborate cross-functionally with the Fraud Strategy & Analytics team and other Fifth Third stakeholders
- Provide ad hoc analytics support for operations, strategy, and leadership requests
- Contribute to workflow or process changes, redesign, business plans, policies, procedures, and efficiency-improvement projects
- Identify, assess, manage, monitor, and report risks
Requirements
What you’ll need- Advanced degree in quantitative analytics, economics, statistics, engineering, or a related area
- Equivalent work/fraud experience may substitute for an advanced degree
- 5–10 years of experience
- 2–4 years of management experience and evidence of leadership
- 4–8 years of experience with SAS, R, and/or Python; coursework experience acceptable
- 4–8 years of experience in statistical/econometric modeling and database management
- 4–8 years of proficiency with SAS, including statistical modeling, and SQL
- Critical thinking skills, including framing problems, testing hypotheses, and implementing solutions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to present a professional image
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to multitask and be flexible
- Experience with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
