About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Negotiate enterprise customer agreements, data-licensing deals, vendor contracts, and partnership agreements from start to finish
  • Serve as a legal partner to sales and business development during active deals
  • Advise product and engineering on data access, privacy, AI, intellectual property, and regulatory questions
  • Handle novel and higher-risk matters including AI output ownership, permissioning, and emerging licensing structures
  • Build contracting processes, templates, playbooks, fallback positions, and approval thresholds
  • Implement company policies and compliance programs and ensure they operate effectively
  • Determine when outside counsel is needed and manage those relationships
  • Handle additional legal needs as Firecrawl grows
  • Build the commercial and product legal function for Firecrawl’s AI infrastructure business

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5–8 years of sophisticated commercial, technology, or product counseling experience
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Membership in good standing in at least one US state bar
  • Experience negotiating real technology agreements directly with counterparties
  • Ability to independently own matters, exercise judgment, and close them out without supervision
  • Ability to identify when to escalate matters to the General Counsel or a founder
  • Ability to provide actionable business advice and risk assessments
  • Ability to work effectively with engineers, salespeople, and other non-lawyers
  • Heavy existing use of AI in legal practice
  • Preferred: J.D. from a T14 law school or comparable academic credentials
  • Preferred: prior experience at an Am Law 100 firm or comparably sophisticated firm
  • Exposure to data licensing, privacy, intellectual property, or data-access issues is a plus
