About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide in-house legal and regulatory advice on topics affecting the mortgage servicing and origination industry
- Advise on mortgage servicing document requirements
- Provide legal counsel to operational teams
- Draft contracts, policies and product forms
- Interface occasionally with regulatory authorities
- Report to management on changes in applicable law and regulatory trends
- Facilitate division and company business objectives through timely and effective legal support
- Minimize potential legal exposure and risk
- Provide practical, timely, and high-quality legal counsel and guidance to assigned divisions and departments
- Work with the independent Corporate Compliance Department to ensure organizational compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Law Degree required
- Admitted to practice law in the US
- Typically has 1-3 years professional experience in area of specialization
- Licensed to practice law, in good standing
- Knows fundamental concepts, practices and procedures related to mortgage servicing and origination
- Knowledge of Federal and State regulations
- Developed legal research, written and verbal communication skills
- Good organizational skills with the ability to multi task, prioritize and work under pressure
- Demonstrated ability to manage workload and balance competing priorities
- Ability to build and maintain rapport with superiors, peers, subordinates and external company contacts
