About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Examine chains of title for residential and commercial title orders
  • Analyze mortgages, liens, judgments, easements, vital statistics, plat and map books, and property surveys
  • Determine ownership, legal restrictions, legal descriptions, and record completeness
  • Analyze probate, foreclosures, court cases, and bankruptcy proceedings
  • Examine trusts, wills, and affidavits of heirship
  • Use technical bulletins and other resources to evaluate and resolve problems
  • Review and approve deeds, operating agreements, trusts, wills, affidavits, corporate resolutions, partnership agreements, and state-filed incorporation and organization articles
  • Select write-ups for commitments and policies
  • Participate in business development and customer visits
  • Price commitments, endorsements, policies, and guarantees
  • Consult with attorneys on search packages and escalated matters
  • Provide underwriting interpretation within established guidelines
  • Request and issue hold harmless letters

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years title/related real estate experience
  • At least 2 years examining title
  • Familiarity with all aspects of title work
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong detail orientation
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
