About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Independently evaluate and underwrite complex commercial credits, including CRE, C&I, Hospitality, Municipalities, and other commercial credit types
  • Gather, analyze, and interpret personal and business financial statements, projections, tax returns, collateral information, and internal/external reports
  • Prepare financial spreads for commercial and real estate businesses, municipalities, non-profits, individuals, borrowers, and guarantors
  • Analyze creditworthiness, repayment capacity, cash flows, leverage, liquidity ratios, collateral, borrower research, and industry risks
  • Author comprehensive credit analysis reports using charts, formulas, graphs, and written narrative
  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate credit risk; determine risk ratings and recommend approval, modification, renewal, or denial
  • Partner with Commercial Relationship Managers on new and existing loan relationships
  • Perform special projects related to credit administration, portfolio management, and regulatory compliance
  • Ensure compliance with federal regulations and FIB credit policies
  • Mentor and develop junior analysts as an Anchor Analyst
  • Assist with quarterly monitoring reports for classified and criticized commercial relationships
  • Complete financial performance metric covenant testing using prepared financial spreads
  • Participate in quality control reviews, training material development, and analyst training
  • Serve as a resource for Relationship Managers and analysts on Loan Policy, loan structuring, and underwriting recommendations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 7-9 years of banking experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Experience with financial spread software required
  • Commercial banking experience preferred
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to underwrite streamlined to complex commercial requests with limited guidance
  • Ability to make independent assessments and support credit actions based on Credit Policy
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to acclimate quickly to other programs
  • Regular and predictable attendance required
  • Ability to work M-F (8-5)
