About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as Relationship Manager for new and existing complex clients
- Manage a loan portfolio greater than $100MM, including at least 35 bank relationships and generating at least $1.8MM in revenue
- Establish and maintain collaborative, strategic client partnerships aligned with business objectives and lifecycle
- Develop and grow new business through outside business development activities
- Achieve annual production and growth goals for loans, deposits, and fees
- Maintain ongoing contact with clients and enhance their experience with First Interstate Bank
- Analyze client financial data and conduct relationship reviews and personal meetings
- Use internal customer sourcing software to generate leads, track activities, and make referrals
- Participate in community organizations to source business development opportunities
- Build client referral pipelines through internal and external centers of influence
- Develop knowledge of products, services, competitors, and competitive products
- Promote bank products and services and identify cross-sell opportunities
- Assemble cross-functional teams to respond to customer requests
- Analyze credit and determine clients’ borrowing qualifications
- Ensure sound asset quality through underwriting, structuring, and portfolio management
- Maintain follow-up on existing loans and ensure compliance with required terms
- Research industrial, commercial, economic, and financial situations relevant to business
- Maintain compliance with bank regulations, policies, procedures, and required training
- Coach, mentor, or train others as requested
- Contribute to strategic discussions with senior management
- Act as subject-matter expert for difficult questions
- Provide ideas and perspectives on process improvement

Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or related field required
- 10+ years experience in commercial lending, commercial credit underwriting, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- PowerPoint experience is beneficial
- Advanced credit analysis and commercial underwriting skills, including accounting, financial statement analysis, and cash flow analysis
- Completion of formal Credit Analyst training required
- Strong knowledge of commercial lending policies, procedures, practices, and documentation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong presentation abilities
- Proficient in the bank’s risk-rating system, credit products, and underwriting policies
- Working knowledge of structuring credit products for small and medium-sized businesses across diverse industries
- Experience in asset-based lending, capital structure finance, and trade finance
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common financial reports and legal documents
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions
- Regular and predictable attendance required
- Travel as needed
