  • Prospect, solicit, and sell new commercial accounts
  • Counsel and professionally market to existing clients
  • Identify and develop insurance prospects and appropriate markets

  • Assist the Account Executive with applications and related documentation
  • Develop, follow, and complete sales objectives
  • Educate clients about agency payment expectations and cancellation procedures
  • Document non-standard coverage limitations and binding restrictions
  • Request referrals from insureds to generate new business
  • Explain coverages and exclusions and document explanations
  • Develop a profitable book of business for the agency and carriers
  • Ensure clients' limits and coverage are adequate
  • Provide client information and clarification to service staff and document transactions
  • Review existing policy coverages annually to upgrade accounts and remarket when necessary
  • Assist service staff with client information for insurance schedules, summaries, and renewal proposals
  • Review policy change requests and other account activity
  • Recommend and help insureds implement loss control programs
  • Contact insureds regarding collection of past-due premiums or audit amounts
  • Retain assigned percentages of accounts at renewal
  • Continue developing relationships with insureds
  • Perform other duties and handle prospects assigned by agency management
  • Participate in sales meetings
  • Complete required compliance exams and continuing education
  • Build network relationships through chambers of commerce, bank meetings, and community organizations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • College education or equivalent insurance experience
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with others, explain complex issues, receive and interpret complex information, and respond appropriately
  • Ability to understand written and oral communication and interpret abstract information
  • Must maintain insurance license
  • Full knowledge of insurance products and usages
  • Adequate knowledge of rating procedures, coverages, and industry operations to effectively manage, maintain, and write assigned client prospect lists
  • Full knowledge of insurance markets and reference to markets
  • Knowledge of rating and underwriting procedures
  • Ability to generate new business sales, retain existing business, and close sales in insurance
  • Ability to carry out complex tasks with concrete and abstract variables
  • Complete required compliance exams
  • Develop network relationships through Chamber of Commerce membership, bank meetings, and community/non-profit organization involvement
