About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform service operations, maintenance, and support for battery energy storage systems
- Assist the Regional Manager with site reports, onsite lockout/tagout, and communications with site personnel, management, customers, and vendors
- Maintain site safety using Fluence safety practices and management systems, including stop-work authority
- Alert project team members to issues and concerns
- Mentor junior team members on complex technical issues
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on BESS equipment and related assets, including SCADA communications, inverters, medium- and high-voltage systems, HVAC, and substations
- Create, review, and execute work orders
- Manage inventory, collect data, and prepare summary reports
- Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair utility-scale power and controls equipment
- Interpret single-line drawings and schematics
- Troubleshoot BESS installations, configurations, control wiring, and I/O racks
- Configure TCP/IP and Modbus protocols
- Support management of third-party service vendors performing O&M services across contracted BESS projects
- Meet timelines, schedules, scopes of work, quality assurances, inspections, troubleshooting and repair objectives, and work-order completion requirements
- Maintain communication with supervisors, engineers, and managers using Microsoft Teams, email, and other tools
- Perform other assigned job-related duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school degree
- 4+ years of experience working in electrical or renewable energy industries within generation, operations, or technical teams
- Demonstrated electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret schematic drawings
- Ability to follow company QC and testing procedures
- High attention to detail and proper documentation
- Experience with bidirectional inverters, 1500VDC and 690 VAC systems; substation experience is an advantage
- Experience using electrical testing equipment, including meggers and multimeters
- Experience with managed Ethernet switches and media converters (fiber and serial)
- HVAC and chiller systems operations and maintenance experience
- Experience using torque tools and thermal imaging tools
- Ability to work in extreme hot and cold environments
- Ability to manage time and tasks effectively and work overtime/weekends as needed
- Either currently hold or be able to immediately obtain OSHA 10, NFPA 70E, and CPR certifications
- Willingness to travel to assigned sites within the region
- Current driver's license with a good DMV record
- Ability to operate company vehicles on site and on public roads/highways
- Ability to bend, stoop, sit, stand, walk, reach, climb ladders/steps, and lift at least 50 lbs
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
