About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage customer accounts and identify and develop new prospects to sell FMC products
  • Focus on sales targets, business development, customer relationships, and resolving customer issues
  • Develop and execute account plans, negotiating to meet sales targets while considering margins and revenue
  • Build customer business relationships
  • Prepare sales presentations, call plans, proposals, and reports
  • Obtain and communicate market information related to sales volumes
  • Forecast customer business plans and needs
  • Obtain and communicate competitive practices and assist in assessing competitive information
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities for increased sales to existing accounts or new accounts
  • Coordinate interfaces between customers and technical or supply chain resources to provide value-added service
  • Identify opportunities and implement appropriate actions
  • Work within a customer segmentation model considering account financials
  • Collaborate with peer sales professionals and corporate commercial colleagues
  • Report to and work with the Regional Business Manager to achieve regional and expense targets
  • Provide FMC product recommendations to customers and business constituents while growing FMC’s footprint in East-Central Illinois
  • Align distributor and retail account activities with territory and regional initiatives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Agriculture or related Life Science and 5+ years of relevant sales experience, or High School Diploma and 8+ years of relevant sales experience
  • 5+ years sales experience
  • Experience making data-driven decisions leveraging CRM systems
  • Core principles in value selling and agronomics
  • Experience facilitating and executing complex projects
  • Strong financial and business acumen
  • Experience driving new and existing business opportunities with key accounts, including national accounts, within a sales territory
  • Ability to make decisions under minimum supervision and handle complex decisions within operating guidelines
  • Ability to make independent judgments with management review
  • Ability to negotiate with middle to senior management
  • Experience leading projects or special assignments involving work outside the area/region
  • Proven track record in making an instant impact on sales in a given territory
  • Experience executing projects independently
  • Requires 50% travel to service territory responsibilities
  • Certified Crop Advisor or MBA a plus
