About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide sound FMC product recommendations to customers and business constituents
  • Grow FMC’s footprint in South-Central Ohio
  • Manage customer accounts and develop new prospects to sell FMC products
  • Focus on sales targets, business development, customer relationships, and resolving customer issues
  • Develop and execute account plans while negotiating to meet sales targets and considering margins and revenue
  • Build customer business relationships
  • Prepare sales presentations, call plans, proposals, and reports
  • Obtain and communicate market information related to sales volumes
  • Forecast customer business plans and needs
  • Obtain and communicate competitive practices and assist in assessing competitive information
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities with existing and new accounts
  • Coordinate interfaces between customers and technical and supply-chain resources
  • Identify opportunities and implement appropriate actions
  • Mentor and lead sales representatives in neighboring territories
  • Work within a customer segmentation model considering account financials
  • Collaborate with peer sales professionals and corporate commercial colleagues
  • Report to and work with the Regional Business Manager to achieve regional and expense targets

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Agriculture or related Life Science and 10+ years of relevant sales experience, or High School Diploma and 13+ years of relevant sales experience
  • 10+ years sales experience
  • Experience making data-driven decisions leveraging CRM systems
  • Core principles in value selling and agronomics
  • Experience facilitating and executing complex projects
  • Strong financial and business acumen
  • Experience driving new and existing business opportunities with key accounts, including national accounts, within a sales territory
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions under minimum supervision and make complex decisions within operating guidelines
  • Experience leveraging critical accounts to support national accounts
  • Demonstrated ability to make independent judgments requiring creativity
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate with middle to senior management
  • Strong negotiation skills with external stakeholders
  • Ability to provide guidance and mentorship to sales representatives in neighboring territories without a direct reporting relationship
  • Experience leading projects or special assignments involving work outside the area/region
  • Proven track record of making an instant impact on sales in a given territory
  • Experience executing projects independently
  • Requires 50% travel to service territory responsibilities
