About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Handle all technical support functions for the assigned area on behalf of FMC
- Work closely with the sales team, regional sales leadership, regional technical manager, marketing, regulatory, product development, and other technical support personnel
- Manage university research testing funds, training presentations, localized sales tools, and customer complaints
- Maintain technical knowledge of commercial agriculture, new technologies, and competitive chemistries and positioning
- Build relationships with university extension personnel and other territory influencers
- Support preparation for FMC product launches and representation in publications and field and industry events
- Manage, implement, and supervise research testing funds and trial plans through the grant-in-aid budget
- Develop and supervise support activities aligned with annual FMC goals and objectives
- Align testing programs with market trends and upcoming development projects
- Manage expenses, service-to-sales dollars, and product demonstration budgets
- Provide technical product training, regional complaint-handling guidance, and agronomic expertise during complaint calls
- Develop training modules and provide technical consulting and training to internal and external groups
- Provide validation data for label updates and amendments and assist regulatory with label-use instructions
- Produce newsletters, technical recommendation sheets, and other sales collateral
- Review, edit, and approve technical, sales, marketing, and advertising communications
- Strengthen communication between regional technical support and internal functional groups
Requirements
What you’ll need- MS in Entomology, Plant Pathology/Physiology, Weed Science, Agronomy or other agricultural/related science or equivalent experience
- 2–5 years of experience in technical support, selling chemical crop protection, seed or agronomy services
- Certified Crop Advisor or equivalent certification desired
- Excellent speaking, writing, and computer skills
- Working knowledge of ARM
- Capability to design protocols and research projects demonstrating agronomic input features and benefits
- Ability to summarize technically complex information for audiences with limited technical expertise
- Ability to operate effectively under pressure, navigate contentious situations and resolve conflict
- Ability to build, sustain and service business relationships with customers, key retail account agronomy staff, and teammates
- Ability to make complex decisions under minimum supervision and independent judgment
- Ability to negotiate effectively with customers, teammates and management
- Experience leading projects or special assignments outside the area/region with little guidance
- Experience serving as a valuable technical resource within a sales organization
