About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Drive sales growth across current and prospective K-12 school districts and sites
  • Sell Follett's content library and classroom portfolio, books, early childhood materials, digital content, technology platforms, eFairs, and value-added services
  • Prospect, develop, and grow current and prospective public libraries
  • Identify new opportunities, develop relationships with key decision-makers, and grow territory revenue
  • Conduct onsite customer meetings, school and public library visits, and targeted outreach
  • Promote, demonstrate, and sell assigned product lines and services using a shared Outside/Inside sales model
  • Focus selling efforts on district-level contacts and partner with the inside sales team on site-based selling
  • Build, maintain, and advance the sales pipeline
  • Manage opportunities from prospecting and discovery through presentation, proposal, follow-up, and close
  • Meet established sales quotas, revenue growth targets, new-business expectations, and other sales objectives
  • Monitor voicemail and email daily and respond appropriately
  • Attend local, regional, and national exhibits, webinars, trade shows, and sales meetings
  • Liaise with sales support groups, library service consultants, technical support, curriculum alignment, sales management, and other internal departments
  • Maintain accurate customer activity, opportunities, pipeline, call plans, itineraries, and next steps in the company CRM
  • Maintain strong knowledge of assigned products, promotional materials, catalogs, and customer-facing marketing collateral
  • Research school districts, public libraries, grants, programs, initiatives, and relevant market information to identify opportunities and maximize sales growth

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree or 5 years of Outside Sales Experience
  • 3–5 years of outside field sales experience
  • Must reside within the NYC metropolitan area and within the assigned New York City territory
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout the assigned territory
  • Approximately 60–75% local travel, including regular onsite visits to schools and public libraries
  • Solid presentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with complex sales situations and operating within a district sales model
