About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Research products and services, focusing on use case, price and other metrics relevant to readers
- Review methodologies and provide input on providers and data points for best-of content
- Test products and services to develop expert knowledge of how they work and who they suit
- Conduct hands-on research to determine the value of reviewed products and services
- Capture photos of products and services to illustrate the user experience
- Write expert reviews explaining the pros and cons of each product or service
- Collaborate with the managing editor to prioritize products and services for review
- Respond promptly to Slack messages and emails
Requirements
What you’ll need- At least 2 years' experience in small business journalism, preferably in the applicable product reviews space
- Experience reviewing SMB products and services
- 3-5 years of experience in online journalism
- Strong communication and task management skills in a remote work environment
- Ability to work with a distributed team across time zones
- Demonstrably strong understanding of the small business space
- Experience with SEO best practices
- Willingness to learn and expand SEO skills
- Extremely organized, meticulous and detail-oriented
- Nimble and open to quick changes in strategy
- Quick learner ready to research and grow expertise in various SMB categories
