About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Oversee Fortinet’s global litigation portfolio in concert with the Vice President of Litigation and Compliance and executive team
Provide strategic guidance to outside counsel
Support outside counsel in coordinating discovery, including implementing litigation holds, working with witnesses, and gathering evidence
Manage internal responses to subpoenas and statutory records requests
Negotiate resolution of pre-litigation and early-stage litigation disputes independently or with minimal oversight
Develop processes and playbooks for a maturing litigation department
Control outside legal spend
Handle small matters independently and work on larger matters collaboratively
Assist with occasional internal investigations, including pre-dispute and corporate compliance matters
Perform additional job duties based on experience and ability

Requirements

What you’ll need

A Juris Doctor from a nationally recognized law school
Admission to applicable state bar
Extensive patent litigation experience preferred; a willingness to learn is a minimum
Significant patent litigation experience, including district court litigation and familiarity with PTAB and ITC proceedings
Experience with technology companies or the computer networking industry is a plus
Technical background or demonstrated ability to quickly grasp complex technologies is highly valued
Excellent written and verbal skills
Attention to detail
Client service orientation and ability to respond quickly and pragmatically to urgent matters
Ability to prioritize the highest impact tasks
Ability to develop creative and sensible solutions to complex issues
Ability to responsibly use AI tools to drive positive outcomes efficiently
