About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and manage a portfolio of strategic and complex transportation customer accounts
  • Serve as trusted advisor and primary relationship owner for executive, operational, financial, procurement, and leadership stakeholders
  • Identify, pursue, and close new shipping opportunities within assigned accounts and target markets
  • Develop and execute strategic account growth plans aligned with customer supply chain initiatives
  • Collaborate with Operations and other internal teams to ensure service performance and resolve complex customer challenges
  • Analyze customer spend, shipping patterns, transportation network activity, market trends, account performance, revenue, satisfaction metrics, and retention risks
  • Identify organic growth, share-of-wallet expansion, network expansion, and additional transportation solution opportunities
  • Establish performance metrics and reporting frameworks, lead corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement
  • Create and lead Quarterly Business Reviews, executive business reviews, and strategic planning discussions
  • Drive retention, expansion, and profitability through commercial strategy, contract renewals, pricing discussions, and negotiations
  • Partner with Sales on growth opportunities, RFP responses, customer expansions, contract negotiations, and win-back initiatives
  • Provide mentorship and best-practice sharing to Account Managers and team members as an LTL subject matter expert
  • Monitor industry trends, market conditions, customer needs, and competitive activity
  • Lead customer onboarding, implementations, solution launches, and major account transitions
  • Manage high-level customer escalations, service concerns, and operational challenges
  • Maintain account plans, forecasts, customer activity, growth opportunities, and pipeline visibility in Salesforce and other business systems
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Transportation, or a related field from an accredited college or university required
  • 5+ years of transportation, logistics, account management, business development, or related customer-facing experience required
  • Demonstrated success managing strategic customer relationships
  • Deep understanding of transportation, freight operations, transportation networks, pricing strategies, terminal/station environments, and related logistics functions
  • Experience managing complex customer accounts, leading executive-level discussions, and developing strategic account growth plans
  • Strong business acumen and ability to analyze financial, operational, and customer performance data
  • Ability to identify revenue risks, develop retention strategies, lead commercial discussions, and drive profitable customer growth
  • Exceptional relationship management, communication, negotiation, presentation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive information
  • Proficiency with Windows PCs, Microsoft O365, Salesforce, and web conferencing tools including Teams, Zoom, and Webex
  • Comfortable with travel for related meetings/events
