About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, conduct, and analyse an endline population-based representative survey measuring changes from baseline in structural factors of menstrual discrimination
  • Conduct the survey across Benin, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Dominican Republic, Guinea, Haiti, Nigeria, Pakistan, and the Philippines
  • Replicate the baseline methodology as closely as possible, including sampling, survey instruments, indicator definitions and calculations, data collection procedures, and analytical methods
  • Include a representative sample of menstruators in each country comparable to the baseline sample
  • Include a targeted sample of approximately 450 systematically excluded menstruators, approximately 50 per country
  • Use the same or similar local survey partners and fieldwork networks where feasible
  • Measure primary and secondary indicators covering menstrual discrimination, knowledge, product use and access, attitudes, supportive environments, WASH, and menstrual health and dignity
  • Disaggregate results by country, age group, and other locally relevant factors
  • Apply an intersectional feminist lens throughout all processes and deliverables
  • Submit an inception report with methodology, sampling strategy, statistical power confirmation, analysis plan, and work plan by December 15, 2026
  • Obtain and submit IRB approval documentation before December 31, 2026
  • Document methodological adjustments, pilot results, and finalized survey instruments by March 31, 2027
  • Submit cleaned, deidentified, translated, merged respondent-level datasets for all nine countries, indicator calculations, codebook, and calculation guide by June 30, 2027
  • Submit a baseline-endline comparative findings report by July 31, 2027
  • Report to Fòs Feminista's Business Intelligence, Evaluation, and Research Unit

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Prior involvement in the design and implementation of the baseline population-based representative survey, with demonstrated capacity to replicate its methodology, instruments, sampling approach, and field procedures
  • Fluent verbal and written communication skills in both English and French
  • Demonstrated ability to test and administer surveys in the local languages of Benin, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Dominican Republic, Guinea, Haiti, Nigeria, Pakistan, and the Philippines
  • Specialized expertise in population-based representative survey development, testing, and administration in the Global South
  • Extensive background in designing and implementing rigorous assessments of sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice
  • Expertise to assess menstrual discrimination with an intersectional feminist lens
  • Demonstrated ability to incorporate ethical considerations and protections, as well as local adaptations of deliverables for each country
  • Strong knowledge of the sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice landscape in Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean, particularly menstrual health and dignity
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in multicultural settings across multiple time zones and using remote digital formats
  • Ability to adapt to challenges and opportunities as they arise
  • Must develop ethics procedures and obtain all required ethical approvals and IRB approval before data collection
  • Must provide translation and back translations needed for deliverables in English
  • Must sign and adhere to Fòs Feminista's International Safeguarding Policy and Safeguarding Code of Conduct, including minimum operating standards for PSEA
  • Familiarity with Agence Française de Développement requirements or reporting is a plus
