About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Guide CCGI's strategic direction and strengthen statewide relationships
- Oversee a leadership team accountable for delivering CCGI's mission and statutory responsibilities
- Connect education policy, partnerships, organizational resources, and execution to reduce barriers and expand access to college and career pathways
- Provide executive leadership for CCGI's mission, statutory responsibilities, strategy, operations, organizational performance, and impact
- Establish medium- and long-term strategic direction and translate it into annual and multi-year priorities, outcomes, and resource commitments
- Hold executive leaders accountable for organizational performance and adjust strategy using data, results, and changing conditions
- Anticipate policy, funding, technology, and educational changes
- Champion innovative, scalable solutions that improve student access and reduce administrative burden
- Lead and support CCGI's leadership team and develop a cohesive, high-performing leadership team
- Establish decision-making authority, accountability, and expectations across the organization
- Oversee legal, financial, operational, cybersecurity, compliance, and reputational risk
- Serve as principal executive representative with education leaders, state officials, policymakers, partners, funders, and stakeholders
- Cultivate strategic relationships and coalitions across education segments, state agencies, governmental entities, and partners
- Lead annual and multi-year budgeting in coordination with the Department of Finance, Legislature, and other stakeholders
- Ensure CCGI fulfills its statutory purpose and state requirements
- Maintain accountability for legislative reporting, funding requirements, governmental commitments, and state oversight obligations
- Keep the Cradle-to-Career Data System Governing Board and other state constituents informed of CCGI's work and developments
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience leading a distributed team of 50+ through an executive leadership structure
- Demonstrated ability to translate equity commitments into organizational policy, hiring, and partnerships
- Experience working with or within the Legislature, Governor's office, or Department of Finance on education policy or funding
- Deep familiarity with K-12, community colleges, CSU, UC, and the state agencies that connect them
- Track record of building alignment across institutional boundaries with competing priorities
- Comfort with data systems, student data privacy and related legal requirements, and using evidence to drive strategy
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, resource allocation, and managing state funding relationships
- Understanding of regulatory compliance, contracting, and the constraints of operating as a public-facing nonprofit
