About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform preregistration, registration, patient financial counseling, and collection of patient co-payments and other liabilities
  • Coordinate Patient Access functions with medical staff, revenue cycle, nursing, and ancillary departments
  • Collect demographic and financial information required to generate medical records for services performed at Franciscan Alliance
  • Distribute required information to patients, representatives, and other parties according to federal and state guidelines
  • Ensure patient information meets quality, regulatory, and HIPAA standards
  • Interview patients and families to obtain registration information and enter accurate, non-duplicated medical record data
  • Enter insurance policy, group, address, telephone, billing, and clinical data
  • Identify patient liabilities, obtain pre-service payments, counsel patients on payer financial waivers, and process co-payment collections
  • Complete computer and telephone pre-registrations to maintain patient flow

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Required High School Diploma/GED
  • Required Professional/Vocational/Trade Training
  • Preferred Associate's Degree
  • Ability to obtain and accurately enter patient registration, demographic, insurance, billing, and clinical data
  • Ability to interview patients and families verbally to obtain registration information
  • Ability to identify patient liabilities and process co-payment collections
  • Ability to counsel patients on payer financial waivers and payment responsibilities
  • Ability to complete computer and telephone pre-registrations
  • Knowledge of medical records, patient access, registration, and financial procedures
  • Ability to meet HIPAA, federal, state, quality, and regulatory standards
