About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Educate, prepare, and reassure patients and their families by answering questions, providing physical assistance, and reinforcing physicians' advice regarding treatment reactions or post-treatment care
- Follow treatment plans and radiation practices and standards
- Position patients for treatment
- Administer prescribed doses of radiation to specific body parts using radiation therapy equipment while minimizing risk to organs at risk
- Perform patient simulation using imaging devices for treatment planning
- Follow radiation protection principles for patients, self, and others
- Maintain patient records, reports, or files in the electronic medical record
- Conduct quality assurance processes and procedures
- Provide training and supervision to student technologists
- Schedule patient treatment times to ensure adequate time between treatments and adherence to specified plans
- Follow radiation safety principles under the direction of the Radiation Safety Officer
Requirements
What you’ll need- Registered Radiation Therapist (ARRT-RTT) required within 90 days of hire
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required within 90 days of hire
- State License required within 90 days of hire
- Basic Life Support Program (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required within 90 days of hire
- Bachelor's Degree in Radiation Therapy preferred
- Ability to follow treatment plans and radiation practices and standards
- Ability to position patients for treatment and administer prescribed radiation doses using radiation therapy equipment
- Ability to perform patient simulation using imaging devices
- Knowledge of radiation protection and radiation safety principles
- Ability to maintain electronic medical records
- Ability to conduct quality assurance processes and procedures
- Ability to train and supervise student technologists
