About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage payroll processing through HRIS and ensure accurate, timely payment
  • Process new hires, terminations, compensation changes, bonuses, deductions, reimbursements, and payroll adjustments
  • Review payroll data and reports and resolve discrepancies before processing
  • Coordinate year-end payroll activities, tax documentation, garnishments, reporting, and compliance requirements
  • Administer medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and other employee benefits
  • Support benefit enrollment, qualifying life events, terminations, employee questions, annual renewal, and Open Enrollment
  • Liaise with HRIS, benefits broker, benefit carriers, employees, 401(k) providers, and external partners
  • Administer the 401(k) plan and reconcile contributions between HRIS and the 401(k) system
  • Administer FMLA, parental, disability, personal, and applicable state leave programs
  • Maintain leave records and track dates, documentation, and return-to-work timelines
  • Coordinate leave activity across TriNet, payroll, benefits, and carriers
  • Conduct recurring payroll and HR audits across employee data, compensation, PTO, benefits, employment status, and HR records
  • Maintain employee records, HR systems, and process documentation across TriNet, Vestwell, benefit carriers, and internal records
  • Support onboarding, offboarding, employee changes, handbook and policy updates, compliance reporting, employment verifications, unemployment claims, workers’ compensation, and audits
  • Improve, streamline, or automate recurring HR operational processes
  • Report to and work closely with the Senior Director of HR

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology, or related field preferred
  • 4+ years of Human Resources operations experience, including management of payroll, benefits, and HR operations processes
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, payroll requirements, and HR compliance
  • Experience administering employee benefits, 401(k) programs, leave programs, and employee lifecycle processes
  • Experience managing full cycle payroll processing
  • Experience working within HRIS, payroll, benefits, and vendor platforms; TriNet experience strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including identifying discrepancies, reconciling data, and resolving employee or system issues
  • Strong project management and presentation skills; experience using tools such as Asana
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and discretion with confidential employee information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and AI tools, including ChatGPT and Claude
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing requirements and priorities
  • Ability to work independently, take accountability, and collaborate effectively
