About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and maintain scalable leave processes and compliance controls across the enterprise
  • Manage day-to-day operations of internal leave analysts and third-party administrators
  • Monitor vendor performance, data integrity, and service delivery
  • Manage the end-to-end process for medical, family, military, and personal leaves
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including FMLA and ADA
  • Serve as subject matter expert for complex regulatory matters and reasonable accommodations
  • Advise HR and leadership teams on complex cases and legal compliance issues
  • Review and update leave and accommodation policies based on legal and best-practice changes
  • Conduct audits and recommend process improvements to mitigate organizational risk
  • Develop and deliver enterprise training programs on leave and accommodation policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with payroll, benefits, legal, Employee Relations, Safety, Occupational Health, and HRIS teams
  • Communicate with managers and HR partners regarding pending leaves, return-to-work dates, extensions, and changes
  • Use vendor and HR reporting and analytics to monitor trends, identify risks, control costs, and improve effectiveness
  • Optimize data tracking and reporting through HRIS and leave management systems
  • Provide regular reports and analytics to senior leadership
  • Manage relationships with leave, disability, workers’ compensation, and accommodation vendors
  • Ensure compliance with FMLA, ADAAA, PWFA, USERRA, Workers’ Compensation, state leave laws, and other applicable regulations
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve program effectiveness

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related fields
  • 10 years of experience, with 7+ years of experience in HR operations, benefits, or leave administration
  • Demonstrated leadership and multi-state compliance experience
  • Deep expertise in federal and state disability and leave laws, including FMLA, ADA, and PWFA
  • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to train management on absence management policies
  • Proficiency with HR management platforms such as Workday and leave case management systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience evaluating and recommending enhancements to leave, disability, accommodation, and return-to-work programs
  • Exceptional case management and follow-through skills
  • Experience leading process improvement initiatives
  • Strong planning, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across cross-functional teams
  • Highly detail-oriented with commitment to accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality
