About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Operate, maintain, and repair black and clean utility systems
  • Operate and monitor compressed gases, cooling towers, plant steam, chillers, boilers, HVAC, fire alarm systems, and utilities tank farm
  • Monitor equipment performance, conduct routine maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance
  • Analyze data to identify improvements, implement energy-saving measures, and optimize utility usage
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance and assist senior operators with complex maintenance tasks
  • Respond promptly to equipment failures and emergency conditions, including power outages, fire alarms, and critical equipment alarms
  • Monitor and maintain compressed gas inventory
  • Assist with operating and monitoring the site building management system (BMS) and Delta V
  • Monitor chemical levels in boiler feed water, cooling tower water, and plant steam
  • Monitor and assist with the site waste neutralization system
  • Maintain accurate records and assist with corrective actions for non-compliance issues
  • Support process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support site operations and emergency work orders during off-hours as needed
  • Perform other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1-2 years of experience in Utility Operations or a related field
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Ability to operate equipment and hand tools
  • Effective written and oral communication
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical sites
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must be able to support a 24/7 manufacturing facility, including shift, on-call and weekends
  • Ability to work in environments requiring respiratory protection, hearing protection, and hearing conservation enrollment
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle or Powered Industrial Truck
  • Ability to discern audible cues
  • 20/20 corrected vision and ability to distinguish color
  • Ability to ascend or descend ladders, scaffolding, and ramps
  • Ability to stand or sit for up to 12 hours
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Ability to operate machinery and/or power tools
  • Ability to move objects up to 33 pounds
  • Ability to bend, push, pull, reach, and use twisting motions
  • Ability to work in temperatures ranging from 0-115 degrees Fahrenheit, outdoor elements, small or enclosed spaces, and heights greater than 4 feet
