About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Monitor outstanding premium debt and produce aged debt reports for the finance team and underwriters
  • Chase brokers for premium settlement in line with agreed terms of trade and premium payment clauses
  • Escalate overdue items where needed
  • Allocate and match cash receipts to the correct policies and transactions
  • Work down unallocated or suspense cash
  • Reconcile broker statements and account balances
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies
  • Track premium payment warranty and settlement due dates
  • Flag potential breaches to underwriting teams
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close with credit control reporting, KPIs and debt provisioning information
  • Handle credit control queries from internal teams and market counterparties
  • Identify recurring collections issues and suggest practical improvements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Demonstrable interest in insurance and the London Market
  • An internship in insurance would be advantageous, particularly within Lloyd's or the London Market (e.g. managing agent, syndicate, MGA, broker or TPA)
  • Understanding of premium settlement, terms of trade or broker accounting is an advantage, though full training will be provided
  • Confident with Excel (lookups, pivot tables, basic reconciliation logic)
  • Comfortable learning new finance and policy systems quickly
  • Methodical and detail-oriented, with pride in producing accurate work to fixed month-end deadlines
  • Clear, confident communicator, comfortable chasing external parties and building good working relationships
  • Degree educated or equivalent experience
