About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Create new and maintain existing SQL Server objects supporting an in-house developed data warehouse
- Develop SSRS reports, maintain SQL Server database objects and SSIS packages, and provide ad hoc data extracts
- Work with clients, business users and the BI team to analyse requirements and recommend technical solutions
- Troubleshoot issues and carry out business-as-usual tasks supporting clients and employees
- Manage changes in line with release procedures, including source control, peer reviews and full testing cycles
- Provide technical support to SharePoint and web developers, including cover during absences
- Help develop the business's API and cloud computing capabilities
- Support onboarding of new clients while working accurately to tight deadlines
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of five years' experience working as a developer
- Strong T-SQL knowledge and a good understanding of the SQL Server stack, including SSRS and SSIS
- SQL Azure preferred
- C#, SharePoint, web development or API experience is an advantage
- Strong analytical and documentation skills, with keen attention to detail
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
- Confident communicator, able to liaise with colleagues, clients and external companies
- Able to prioritise multiple tasks and work accurately under pressure
- Degree in a mathematical or IT discipline desirable, though relevant SQL Server experience will be considered
- Insurance or Financial Services experience is a plus but not a requirement
- Experience in a live environment is desirable
