About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prospect and build a network for new business opportunities and referrals
  • Develop sales leads within the territory and follow up as needed
  • Identify decision-makers among targeted leads and start the sales process
  • Collaborate with Wholesale Leadership on strategic approaches for increasing sales
  • Negotiate sales deals with a 70% or greater closing rate
  • Attend sales group meetings concerning sales targets or forecasts
  • Report on the market situation in the assigned territory
  • Handle cancellations or changes in sales orders and communicate changes to related departments
  • Coordinate with customer service regarding order status to ensure timely client delivery
  • Keep records of sales calls, contacts, and meetings
  • Report regularly to the VP of Wholesale Sales
  • Attend industry conferences to develop expertise, build a network, and monitor industry trends
  • Meet success measures including lead conversion, order volume versus plan, and revenue dollars versus plan

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Based in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, or Iowa; ideal candidate located in the Kansas City area
  • Four-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Three to four years’ proven experience in sales, preferably in high-end furniture or other home furnishing or luxury goods
  • Previous experience with Summer Classics and/or Gabby brands a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and drive for results
  • Self-motivated and self-directed, with exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Ability to set and manage priorities and versed in cold-calling sales techniques
  • Demonstrated sales track record with a high ratio of closing conversions
