About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead 3–4 Fan Experience engineering teams spanning full-stack and front-end engineers
Partner closely with Product Managers and Designers to move ideas from concept to production
Directly manage individual contributors and likely one or two Engineering Managers and/or Staff Engineers
Act as de facto engineering manager for teams without a dedicated EM
Run day-to-day team rituals, unblock teams, and stay hands-on in the codebase
Set standards for using frontier models, AI coding agents/harnesses, and tooling to generate, review, test, and monitor code
Hire, level, and manage performance while maintaining a high talent bar
Own and drive team roadmaps, engineering execution plans, and delivery
Identify investments in tooling, domain foundations, technical debt reduction, and AI-enabled development
Surface engineering risks and recommend mitigations
Partner with engineering leaders to improve the marketplace technically
Drive fan-facing feature velocity, quality, and business outcomes
Report to the VP of Product

Requirements

What you’ll need

Technically hands-on engineering leader who can write and review code, evaluate architecture and engineering tradeoffs, and act as an engineering manager when needed
Direct experience using frontier models, AI coding agents/harnesses, and modern tooling
Track record of shipping consumer-facing product features with measurable business outcomes
Strong cross-functional partnership with Product and Design
Experience managing full-stack and/or front-end engineering teams, including Engineering Managers and/or Staff-level engineers directly
Typically 8+ years in engineering, including several years managing managers or senior ICs
Track record of maintaining a consistent hiring and performance bar across multiple teams
Familiarity with SQL/analytics tools such as Datadog, Sentry, and Honeybadger
Experience leading full-stack teams owning consumer-facing web and mobile products, backend services, and APIs
Experience in a high-traffic marketplace or e-commerce environment
Strong understanding of React, React Native, backend services, APIs, and full-stack architecture
Experience with feature flags, A/B testing, and rapid experimentation
Data-driven approach to prioritization and technical trade-offs
Nice to have: experience scaling or restructuring an engineering organization
Nice to have: experience in consumer marketplaces or high-intent, high-conversion consumer apps
Nice to have: experience building or championing internal tooling/platform investments
