About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assemble, install, and repair underground pipes and fittings
- Prepare pipe-laying areas by directing trenching and grading
- Perform Laborer functions as required
- Assist equipment Operators in placing pipe
- Direct equipment Operators with hand signals
- Backfill around pipe using hand tools
- Set up and work with pipe lasers and transits
- Locate and mark the correct position of pipe and fittings in underground trenches
- Assemble and install metal, PVC, ductile, and concrete valves, fittings, and pipe
- Join pipes using screws, bolts, fittings, solder, and plastic solvent cement
- Test pipes for leakage
- Measure and cut pipe
- Promote Garney Goals and Philosophies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Two years of experience installing large diameter pipes for water, sewer, storm drain
- Previous experience with pipe laying
- Must be willing to complete trainings and certifications provided by Garney, such as Rigging and Signaling Certification, Confined Space Training Certification, and OSHA 10 hour
- Must be willing to travel and work overtime
- Must complete background screening, drug-free workplace requirements, and potentially a post-offer physical and site-specific background check
