About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior Sales executives, including Chief Sales, Growth, Revenue, and Commercial Officers
- Orchestrate Gartner research, analysts, events, and peer networking to help clients achieve enterprise goals
- Define, develop, prioritize, and critique sales strategies and tactics, including go-to-market strategies
- Develop and transform skills and capabilities within sales organizations
- Assist with channel design, compensation architecture, and other functional elements
- Aggregate and deliver Gartner research insights on key initiatives, priorities, and implementations
- Develop and execute client workplans and timelines for critical initiatives
- Manage 20 to 30 senior executive member relationships
- Participate in account planning with Senior Client Managers and Senior Account Executives
- Support all phases of the member lifecycle, including pre-sale, onboarding, relationship management, delivery, review, and renewal
- Conduct annual client workshops and lead CSO/SVP Sales breakout sessions during annual Sales Forums
- Support member retention and sales growth through prospect cultivation, account planning, development, and proof-of-concept engagements
- Host and participate in virtual workshops, roundtables, and webinars
- Facilitate member participation in research studies and case panels
- Collaborate with research analysts to develop and deliver CSO/SVP Sales research
- Assess member needs and develop customized value plans aligned with Gartner Sales strategy and product deliverables
- Deliver research, peer networking, and coaching to improve members’ Sales maturity
- Guide clients in building organizations, developing Sales strategies, establishing priorities, and planning implementation
- Build relationships with internal groups to create sustainable client deliverables
- Direct and facilitate member peer group calls and meetings
- Maintain client activity in Gartner CRM and scheduling systems
- Partner with Sales, Research, and Service teams to deliver client value
Requirements
What you’ll need- Senior business executive with demonstrated expertise developing and delivering overall Sales strategy, execution, and performance improvement
- Current or former SVP, EVP of Sales, CRO, CCO, or CSO
- Successfully led a sales function with a minimum addressable revenue base of $1 billion
- Led a Sales organization with a minimum headcount of 500 people
- Broad C-suite expertise operating at a senior leadership level and driving change at all levels
- University graduate; Masters preferred
- 10+ years’ experience working as an SVP, EVP, CRO, CGO, CCO, or CSO
- In-depth understanding of the Sales Function and the role of the CSO/CRO/CGO/CCO, including leadership, enablement, operations management, compensation, strategy and trends, and metrics
- In-depth understanding of the business value of Sales and alignment of Business, Marketing, and Sales strategies
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to assess member situations and provide actionable, outcome-based business advice
- Ability to leverage Gartner and other resources to help clients achieve business results
- Ability to lead and manage ambiguous situations
- Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with C-level executives
- Strong reflective listening skills and ability to adjust to client cues and needs
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills
- Sales savvy
- Collaboration and team leadership
- Sales and/or business development experience or ability with CXO-level executives
- Strong time/project management skills
- Experience as a Gartner client preferred
