About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Respond to biomedical equipment service calls within hospitals or healthcare systems in the Asheville area
- Evaluate, diagnose, repair, and perform planned maintenance on biomedical equipment
- Perform PM and safety/environmental inspections as assigned
- Assist experienced technicians with basic and complex repairs and resolutions
- Communicate and partner effectively with teammates and colleagues
- Follow GE policies, procedures, hospital protocols, and complete required documentation
- Maintain daily customer communications to ensure resolution and follow-up
- Implement GE/customer facility contracts and support business objectives as instructed
- Provide efficient service delivery to all assigned accounts as part of the local team
- Share on-call responsibility when trained
- Document repair actions and submit scheduled reports and summaries
- Care for and maintain spares, tools, and test equipment, including calibration
- Maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes, and procedures for safe medical equipment use
- Use manuals, technical support, FaceTime, and online resources when performing PM
- Meet Health and Human Services, Environmental Health and Safety, and other applicable regulatory requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; OR equivalent military education; OR participation in the formal GEHC Biomed/FE Services Internship or Military Externship program; OR High School Diploma/GED and 2+ years of experience servicing electrical, electronics, IT, or mechanical equipment
- Analytical and communication skills, with ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers
- Knowledge of electronic digital circuitry
- Understanding of electronic and electro-mechanical devices
- Experience interpreting schematic diagrams
- Successful completion of GEHC's standard background check, including a post-offer drug test
- Compliance with customer access policies, including required immunizations and additional drug tests or background checks when applicable
- Willingness to work after hours or rotating on-call schedules, including weekends, as necessary
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.; employment visa sponsorship is not provided
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. unassisted
- Ability to frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch/squat, kneel/crawl, sit, and stand for long periods
- Ability to reach at, above, and below shoulder level; flex/extend neck; and use hand and finger dexterity
- Required vision abilities may include color, close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception
