About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Respond to biomedical equipment service calls within hospitals or healthcare systems in the Asheville, NC area
  • Evaluate, diagnose, repair, and perform planned maintenance on biomedical equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance and safety/environmental inspections under supervision
  • Assist experienced technicians with basic and complex repairs and resolutions
  • Communicate and partner effectively with teammates and colleagues
  • Follow GE policies, procedures, hospital protocols, and complete required documentation
  • Maintain daily customer communications to ensure resolution, follow-up, and customer satisfaction
  • Implement GE/customer facility contracts and support business objectives as instructed
  • Provide efficient service delivery to all assigned accounts as part of the local team
  • Share on-call responsibility when trained
  • Document repair actions and submit scheduled reports and summaries
  • Maintain and calibrate spares, tools, and test equipment
  • Maintain technical knowledge of current medical-equipment standards, codes, and procedures through formal instruction
  • Use manuals, technical support, FaceTime, and online resources when performing preventive maintenance
  • Meet Health and Human Services, Environment Health and Safety, and other applicable regulatory requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; OR equivalent military education; OR participation in the formal GEHC Biomed/FE Services Internship or Military Externship program; OR High School Diploma/GED and 2+ years of experience servicing electrical, electronics, IT or mechanical equipment
  • Analytical and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers
  • Knowledge of electronic digital circuitry
  • Understanding of electronic and electro-mechanical devices
  • Experience interpreting schematic diagrams
  • Successful completion of GEHC's standard background check, including a post-offer drug test
  • Compliance with customer access policies, including required immunizations and potentially additional drug tests or background checks
  • Willingness to work after hours or a rotating on-call schedule, including weekends, as necessary
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.; employment visa sponsorship is not available
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. unassisted
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch/squat, kneel/crawl, sit, and stand for long periods
  • Ability to reach at, above, and below shoulder level; flex/extend neck; and use good hand and finger dexterity
  • Required vision abilities may include color, close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception
