About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Respond to service calls to evaluate, diagnose, and repair customers' basic biomedical equipment
- Perform planned maintenance and safety/environmental inspections under supervision
- Assist experienced technicians with basic and complex repairs
- Communicate and partner effectively with teammates and colleagues
- Follow GE policies, procedures, hospital protocols, and complete required documentation
- Maintain customer communications to ensure resolution, follow-up, and satisfaction
- Implement GE/customer facility contracts and support business goals as instructed
- Provide efficient service delivery to accounts within the assigned area
- Share on-call responsibility when trained
- Document repair actions and submit reports and summaries on schedule
- Maintain spares, tools, and test equipment, including calibration
- Maintain technical knowledge of current medical-equipment standards, codes, and procedures
- Use manuals, technical support, FaceTime, and online resources to answer questions during planned maintenance
- Meet Health and Human Services, Environmental Health and Safety, regulatory, quality, and compliance requirements
- Complete quality and compliance training on time
- Identify and report customer quality or compliance concerns
- Accurately and timely document work orders, service reports, time and expenses, planned maintenance, purchase orders, and related duties
- Track test equipment and ensure 100% on-time calibration
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; OR equivalent military education; OR participation in the formal GEHC Biomed/FE Services Internship or Military Externship program; OR High School Diploma/GED and 2+ years of experience servicing electrical, electronics, IT, or mechanical equipment
- Analytical and communication skills with the ability to communicate technical issues to customers clearly
- Successful completion of GEHC's standard background check, including a post-offer drug test
- Compliance with customer access policies, including required immunizations and possible additional drug tests or background checks
- Legally authorized to work in the United States; employment visas will not be sponsored
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. unassisted
- Ability to frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch/squat, kneel/crawl, sit, and stand for long periods
- Ability to reach at, above, and below shoulder level; flex/extend neck; and demonstrate good hand and finger dexterity
- Required color, close, distance, peripheral, and depth vision abilities as applicable
- Willingness to work after hours or a rotating on-call schedule, including weekends
