About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Respond to service calls within a hospital or healthcare system
- Evaluate, diagnose, and repair biomedical equipment
- Perform planned maintenance, safety inspections, and environmental inspections
- Implement appropriate repairs to support customers’ ability to deliver healthcare
- Follow company policies, procedures, and hospital protocols
- Ensure regulatory and compliance requirements are met
- Document all work performed
- Maintain strong customer relationships and frequent communication for resolution and follow-up
- Maintain tools and test equipment calibration and readiness
- Identify and immediately report customer quality or compliance concerns to the Quality Organization
- Work onsite at customer location(s) in the Bayou Region, LA area
- Work first shift and participate in after-hours or rotating on-call coverage, including weekends
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; OR equivalent military education; OR participation in the formal GEHC Biomed/FE Services Internship, Apprenticeship or Military Externship program; OR High School Diploma/GED and a minimum 4 years of experience servicing electrical, electronics, IT or mechanical equipment
- Minimum 2 years of experience servicing medical equipment
- Knowledge of electronic digital circuitry and electronic and electro-mechanical devices
- Experience interpreting schematic diagrams
- Ability to be available after-hours and/or work a rotating on-call schedule, including weekends
- Analytical and communication skills to explain technical issues clearly to customers
- Experience interfacing with internal team members and external customers in a solution-based service process
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.; employment visa sponsorship is not available
- Successful completion of GEHC’s standard background check, including a post-offer drug test
- Compliance with customer access policies, including required immunizations and possible additional drug tests or background checks
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. unassisted
- Ability to frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch/squat, kneel/crawl, sit, and stand for long periods
- Ability to reach at, above, and below shoulder level; flex/extend neck; and demonstrate good hand and finger dexterity
- Required vision abilities may include color, close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception
