About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Respond to service calls for customer biomedical equipment
  • Evaluate, diagnose, repair, and perform planned maintenance on progressively complex biomedical equipment
  • Perform safety and environmental inspections and maintain customer relationships
  • Follow and guide others on GE policies, procedures, hospital protocols, and documentation
  • Communicate and partner effectively with teammates and colleagues
  • Maintain proactive daily customer communications, resolution follow-up, and customer satisfaction
  • Implement GE/customer facility contracts in support of business goals
  • Lead, instruct, and assist technicians with basic and complex repairs
  • Provide efficient service delivery to accounts within the assigned area
  • Share on-call/pager responsibilities
  • Document repair actions and submit scheduled reports and summaries
  • Care for and calibrate spares, tools, and test equipment
  • Maintain approved parts inventory
  • Manage vendors’ service delivery processes in compliance with GE policies
  • Maintain technical knowledge of standards, codes, and procedures for safe and effective medical equipment use
  • May serve as Site Leader, directing technicians and participating in customer account activities
  • Meet Health and Human Services, Environment Health and Safety, regulatory, quality, and compliance requirements
  • Complete required quality and compliance training and report customer quality or compliance concerns

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of experience servicing medical equipment; OR equivalent military education and 2+ years of experience servicing electrical or mechanical equipment; OR High School Diploma/GED and 4+ years of experience servicing medical equipment
  • Analytical and communication skills with the ability to communicate technical issues to customers in an easy-to-understand manner
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.; employment visa sponsorship is not available
  • Successful completion of GEHC’s standard background check, including a post-offer drug test
  • Compliance with customer access policies, including required immunizations and possible additional drug tests or background checks
  • Willingness to work after hours or a rotating on-call schedule, including weekends
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. unassisted
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch/squat, kneel/crawl, sit, and stand for long periods
  • Ability to reach at, above, and below shoulder level; flex/extend neck; and use good hand and finger dexterity
  • Required vision abilities may include color, close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception
