About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own composite structure design and analysis for NPI blades and develop competitive design solutions
- Partner with the Lead Structural Engineer to deliver FEA results from predesign through factory implementation
- Perform FEA analysis of composite structure concepts using ABAQUS, PATRAN, and in-house tools
- Highlight critical design risks related to 3D finite-element failure modes and suggest mitigation plans
- Document FEA results for final designs to fulfill certification and internal design criteria
- Collaborate with the Test and Validation center of excellence on FEA evaluation for test blades and regulatory compliance
- Support technical discussions and meetings with customers and certification bodies, representing GEV
- Lead or participate as a presenter or reviewer in structure design reviews
- Contribute to root-cause analysis of blade failures and identify corrective actions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace or Civil Structural Engineering from a reputed university
- 2-5 years of experience in a mechanical structural design engineering position
- 1+ years of experience in composite material structural design and analysis, preferably in wind turbine rotor blade
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
- Global experience with proven ability to work with international and/or cross-functional teams across cultural boundaries
- Fluent in English, verbal and written
- Willingness to travel domestically/internationally at short notice for around 20% of time
- Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace or Civil Engineering with specialization in Structural stream from a reputed university (desired)
- Solid background in mechanical design with sound engineering fundamentals
- Willingness to learn GEV in-house blade design tools and processes
- Proficient in structural finite element analysis using ABAQUS/PATRAN with focus on results interpretation and presentation
- Familiarity with GD&T, 2D Drawings, Teamcenter, Work Instructions, and Product Lifecycle Management
- Ability and willingness to learn legacy design processes, safety factors, and materials
- Demonstrated ability to work in global and cross-functional projects, with timely updates to stakeholders
- Proactive, self-motivated, and innovative approach
